Bank Jakarta Supports Environmentally Friendly Sanitation Program through the Inauguration of a Communal Biodigester Installation

Jakarta – As a form of commitment to improving the quality of life of the community and the environment in a sustainable manner, Bank Jakarta is collaborating with the Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) DKI Jakarta and the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government to implement a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program in the form of building a Communal Septic Tank Installation with Biogas Utilization (Biodigester) in the Pekayon area, Pasar Rebo, East Jakarta.

This program is part of Bank Jakarta's real support for accelerating the achievement of the Stop Open Defecation (SBS)/Open Defecation Free (ODF) program, which is the first pillar of Community-Based Total Sanitation (STBM). The inauguration activity was carried out in commemoration of the 61st National Health Day (HKN), which was attended by the Governor of DKI Jakarta, Pramono Anung, Head of the DKI Jakarta Provincial Health Service, Ani Ruspitawati, Mayor of East Jakarta, Munjirin, Main Director of Bank Jakarta, Agus H. Widodo, Chair of the DKI Jakarta Provincial Baznas, Akhmad H. Abubakar, Head of PMI DKI Jakarta Province, Mardani, and Head of Pasar Rebo Subdistrict as well as the Village community Pekayon, on Thursday (13/11).

Through funding support, Bank Jakarta and PMI DKI Jakarta contributed to the construction of a biodigester installation as a technology that accommodates domestic waste for anaerobic fermentation to produce biogas which can be used as an environmentally friendly alternative energy for the community, such as for cooking and lighting needs.

The Governor of DKI Jakarta, Pramono Anung expressed his gratitude and joy at the inauguration of the Communal Biodigester Installation in Pekayon Village, Pasar Rebo as a form of utilizing technology that has a positive impact on residents. "I want to develop an ecosystem like this bigger, whether it can be in government or private offices. We can create a system like this, economically it will be very helpful," said Pramono

Furthermore, Pramono said that the activity of utilizing sanitation processing technology would strengthen Jakarta as a global city, where defecation (defecation) problems could be resolved. "This also encourages savings, thereby providing an important economic impact and more importantly, people's health will be better," concluded Pramono.

The President Director of Bank Jakarta, Agus H. Widodo said that the synergy between Bank Jakarta and PMI DKI Jakarta is a form of real collaboration in encouraging the creation of a healthy and sustainable environment. "Bank Jakarta is committed to playing an active role in supporting regional government programs in creating a clean, healthy and livable environment. Through this CSR program, we hope that the community can experience direct benefits from adequate sanitation facilities, while optimizing the use of renewable energy from domestic waste," said Agus.

The implementation of the Communal Biodigester CSR program in Pekayon is also in line with Bank Jakarta's commitment to supporting the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), especially Goal 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities, which emphasizes the importance of safe, clean and inclusive urban quality of life.

Bank Jakarta Corporate Secretary, Arie Rinaldi added that this program is part of the company's ongoing commitment to providing social benefits directly to the people of Jakarta.
