Business Scope & Activities

Based on the Extraordinary General Meeting of Shareholders Resolution of PT Bank DKI dated August 2, 2023, as stated in Deed No. 11 of 2023, Bank Jakarta (formerly Bank DKI) amended its Articles of Association in 2023. One of the key changes was the adjustment of its purposes, objectives, and business activities in accordance with Law No. 4 of 2023 concerning Financial Sector Development and Strengthening. The Company's purpose and objective are to engage in banking business activities.


Business Activities

To achieve its objectives, Bank Jakarta conducts various business activities, including:

  • Collecting funds from the public in the form of demand deposits, time deposits, certificates of deposit, savings accounts, and/or other equivalent forms of deposits
  • Providing loans and credit facilities
  • Issuing debt acknowledgment instruments
  • Buying, selling, or guaranteeing, either at its own risk or on behalf of and under the instructions of its customers:
    • Bills of exchange, including those accepted by banks, with maturities not exceeding customary trading practices for such instruments
    • Debt acknowledgment instruments and other commercial papers with maturities not exceeding customary trading practices for such instruments
    • Government treasury instruments and government guarantees
    • Bank Indonesia Certificates
    • Bonds
    • Commercial papers with maturities of up to one (1) year
    • Other securities instruments with maturities of up to one (1) year
  • Transferring funds for its own account or on behalf of customers
  • Placing funds with, borrowing funds from, or lending funds to other banks
  • Receiving payments from claims on securities and conducting settlements with or between third parties
  • Providing safekeeping facilities for valuables and securities
  • Conducting custodial services on behalf of other parties under contractual agreements
  • Engaging in factoring, credit card services, and trustee activities

1961

Established and operating as Bank DKI

Bank Jakarta was established and has been operating since April 11, 1961, which is the first regional development bank born in Indonesia, in line with the formation of the city of Jakarta as the capital city of Indonesia.

1978

Change of Legal Entity and Name to PD BPD Jaya

In order to adjust the provisions of Law of the Republic of Indonesia No. 13 of 1962 concerning the Basic Provisions of the Regional Development Bank and based on the Regional Regulation of the Republic of Indonesia No. 6 of 1978 dated August 21,1978 concerning the Jakarta Regional Development Bank (BPD Jaya), the Company’s Legal Entity form was changed from a Limited Liability Company of the Jakarta Regional Development Bank to a Jakarta Regional Development Bank.

1992

Activities as a Foreign Exchange Bank

The Bank's scope of activities is to carry out general banking activities. On September 30, 1992, the Bank obtained a license to operate as a Foreign Exchange Bank based on a Decree of the Board of Directors of Bank Indonesia.

1999

Change of Legal Entity and Name to PT BPD DKI Jakarta

On February 1, 1999, the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government changed the legal form of Bank DKI from a Regional Company (PD) to a Limited Liability Company (PT) through Regional Regulation No. 1 of 1999. This change established PT Bank Pembangunan Daerah DKI Jakarta with an authorized capital of Rp700 billion.

2004

Establishment of a Sharia Business Unit

In March 2004, the Bank began conducting operational activities based on sharia principles based on Bank Indonesia Letter No. 6/39/DpbS, dated January 13, 2004 concerning the principles of opening sharia branch offices of the Bank in the Bank's commercial activities.

2008

Change of Legal Entity and Name to PT Bank DKI

In order to amend the provisions of Law of the Republic of Indonesia No. 40 of 2007 concerning Limited Liability Companies, Bank Jakarta amends the Articles of Association including the addition of authorized capital to IDR1,500,000,000,000 as stated in Deed No. 21 dated September 12, 2008 concerning the Statement of Resolution of the Meeting of PT Bank Jakarta made by and before the Notary Mrs. Poerbaningsih Adi Warsito, SH., a Notary in Jakarta who has obtained the Approval of the Minister of Law and Human Rights of the Republic of Indonesia with No. AHU-79636. AH.01.02. Year 2008 dated October 29, 2008.

2025

Change of Call Name and Logo to Bank Jakarta

Coinciding with the 498th anniversary of the City of Jakarta, on June 22, 2025, Bank DKI officially changed its call name to Bank Jakarta. This change marks the beginning of a new phase of transformation for PT Bank DKI toward becoming more modern, professional, and competitive at both national and regional levels.
