Consistently Applying ESG Principles, Bank DKI Wins ESG Recognized Commitment Award

Jakarta - Bank DKI's efforts to maintain consistent implementation of sustainable finance by continuing to integrate Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) principles through the implementation of various sustainable financial activities, succeeded in winning appreciation in the form of an award from B-Universe as the winner of the ESG Recognized Commitment category at the Investor Daily ESG Appreciation Night which took place in Jakarta (27/02). Bank DKI Compliance Director, Ateng Rivai, who was present to receive the award, expressed his thanks and appreciation for the award given to Bank DKI.

"This appreciation is a manifestation of our commitment to integrating environmental, social and corporate governance (ESG) factors into financial decisions, including increasing transparency in financial reports," said Ateng.

Bank DKI's success in winning the ESG Reconized Commitment Award was based on a number of assessment indicators, namely based on ESG risk decomposition and ESG report scoring carried out by the Investor Daily Research and Development with an independent jury and experts in the field of ESG. The appreciation measurement refers to the value published by the Indonesian Stock Exchange (BEI) in 2023 which has low risk, company products that comply with ESG principles, social activities carried out by the company, as well as certification held by the company related to the ESG sector.

On a different occasion, Acting President Director of Bank DKI, Amirul Wicaksono, said that in relation to the implementation of ESG, Bank DKI has a strategic role as an agent of change in supporting the sustainability vision of the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government.

"Bank DKI does not only act as a business entity, but also carries out responsibilities in public services by continuing to implement the Sustainable Finance Program by presenting innovative products and services that support the environment, economy, social and society," said Amirul.

The President Commissioner of B-Universe, Enggartiasto Lukita, in his speech also appreciated the presence of company leaders who were considered to have demonstrated the company's commitment in the field of ESG.

"There is also a law for ESG, which will be implemented later, with a carbon tax in 2025. Previously it was in 2021, then it was postponed until 2025. That is what is put together in one group to become one unit. So it is easier for mothers, fathers and siblings to get a certificate so that they are no longer disturbed in their business activities," said Enggartiasto.

Bank DKI Corporate Secretary, Arie Rinaldi, added that Bank DKI's success in winning awards shows its commitment to Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) principles, one of which is carried out through its flagship CSR program, namely the Jakarta Hydroponic Cooperative (JAKONIK).

"As Bank DKI's flagship CSR, JAKONIK is expected to provide significant benefits to the surrounding community by improving people's quality of life and empowering the local economy. JAKONIK's success has been proven to be able to help reduce social disparities and improve overall quality of life," concluded Arie.

JAKONIK's Flagship CSR Program

Apart from various public disclosure reports, Bank DKI also integrates ESG principles in each of the company's CSR programs, one of which is the superior one, namely, Jakarta Hydroponic Cooperative (JAKONIK), a CSR program that involves active community participation in developing hydroponic gardens based on community empowerment. Currently, JAKONIK has 9 member groups spread across 9 (nine) flat areas in Jakarta.

JAKONIK members have been provided with training and assistance to maximize harvest yields and manage hydroponic businesses from upstream to downstream, with roles as hydroponic marketing centers, hydroponic business assistance centers, educational service providers, providers of facilities and infrastructure such as fertilizer, seeds and equipment.
