Governor Pramono Encourages Bank DKI's Role in Implementing Bank Indonesia's QRIS Tap NFC

Jakarta – Governor of DKI Jakarta, Pramono Anung encourages Bank DKI's active role in implementing the Indonesian Standard Code Without Scan (QRIS Tap) which is available on Bank Indonesia (BI) Near Field Communication (NFC) devices on smartphones.

Moreover, until now the city of Jakarta has become a barometer for NFC users throughout Indonesia. Because most transactions using NFC are used in Jakarta.

Governor Pramono said this when attending the launch of QRIS Tap at the Hotel Indonesia (HI) Bank DKI Roundabout MRT Station, Menteng, Central Jakarta, on Friday (14/3/2025).

"The happiest is Jakarta. Because the one that uses QRIS the most is Jakarta. The Governor (BI) said earlier that we can take the MRT from Lebak Bulus to the HI Roundabout using QRIS," said Governor Pramono.

Governor Pramono also wants all public transportation and Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) to implement similar things in the future. To make it easier for people to make payment transactions.

"In the future, both LRT, MRT, maybe even JakLingko, MSMEs and so on, including TransJakarta and Transjabodetabek, can use QRIS. For this reason, we especially want to thank the Governor of BI, the Minister of Transportation for this launch. Because the happiest people are the people of Jakarta who use it the most," said Governor Pramono.

"Earlier, when I went downstairs with the Governor of BI and the Minister of Transportation, it turned out that Jakarta, JakPreneur, which oversees MSMEs, was ready to use QRIS," he continued.

For this reason, Governor Pramono hopes that the launch of QRIS Tap will facilitate people's mobility when using public transportation, especially during work and on weekends.

"So, ladies and gentlemen, once again we express our gratitude for the initiation, Mr. Governor of Bank Indonesia and the Bank Indonesia association, Mr. Minister of Transportation and all of you," he concluded.

For your information, this launch event was also attended by the Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development of the Republic of Indonesia, Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono, the Minister of Transportation of the Republic of Indonesia, Dudy Purwagandhi, the Governor of Bank Indonesia, Perry Warjiyo, the Chair of the Indonesian Payment System Association (ASPI), Adiwan Fahlan Aritenang, and the President Director of Bank DKI, Agus H. Widodo.

Apart from that, also present were board of directors representatives from various financial institutions, transportation and public services, such as MRT Jakarta, KCI, LRT Jakarta, LRT Jabodebek, TransJakarta and Perum Damri.

At the same time, BI Governor Perry Warjiyo explained that the Qris Tap NFC innovation allows users to carry out non-cash transactions more quickly and easily by simply attaching their device to a payment machine that supports the NFC feature.

"As an initial stage, QRIS Tap NFC is being implemented in a pilot project in the transportation and public service sectors. We hope that this innovation can further accelerate financial inclusion in Indonesia and support a wider digital payments ecosystem," said Perry.

As part of the introduction of the QRIS Tap NFC feature at the launch ceremony, invited guests and VIPs had a live experience in various modes of transportation, with the experience of using QRIS Tap NFC at the Bundaran HI Bank DKI MRT Station to carry out tap-in transactions, followed by a trip to Istora Mandiri MRT Station, and tap-out at the destination location. Apart from that, QRIS Tap NFC is also used on RoyalTrans and DAMRI services, where participants tap-in at the GBK stop, continue their journey and tap-out at Bank Indonesia.

Meanwhile, at Tarakan Regional Hospital, participants can experience using QRIS Tap NFC to pay for health services at the RSUD cashier as well as transactions at MSME merchants in the Tarakan Regional Hospital canteen.

The President Director of Bank DKI, Agus H. Widodo, added that the implementation of QRIS Tap NFC in JakOne Mobile is clear evidence of Bank DKI's commitment to supporting Bank Indonesia policies and is in line with the vision of the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government in terms of encouraging digital financial inclusion in Jakarta.

"The launch of QRIS Tap NFC is a strategic step for Bank DKI in supporting the digitization of a payment system that is faster, more practical and inclusive. With NFC technology integrated in JakOne Mobile, we provide an innovative solution that makes it easier for people to make non-cash transactions, both for transportation, retail and public services," said Agus.

Bank DKI Corporate Secretary, Arie Rinaldi added that the presence of QRIS Tap NFC in the JakOne Mobile application is part of Bank DKI's strategy to increase financial inclusion and encourage payment system efficiency.

"The implementation of QRIS Tap NFC in JakOne Mobile not only increases transaction efficiency, but is also a strategic step in expanding digital payments in various sectors. Bank DKI is optimistic that the presence of this technology will further strengthen Bank DKI's position as the main partner in the digital financial ecosystem in Jakarta," concluded Arie.
