Respectful Workplace Policy

In upholding Human Rights (HR) principles and creating a safe, fair, harmonious, respectful, and dignified workplace in accordance with applicable human rights protection principles, Bank Jakarta implements the Respectful Workplace Policy, which sets out standards of respectful conduct in the workplace.

Principles of Equality and Non-Discrimination

  • Bank Jakarta is committed to respecting, protecting, and fulfilling the rights of every employee by upholding the principles of equality, fairness, human dignity, and equitable and non-discriminatory treatment in all aspects of the employment relationship.
  • In its implementation, the Bank ensures that every employee receives equal opportunities and treatment in recruitment, competency development, performance assessment, remuneration and benefits, promotion, transfer, placement, career development, and termination of employment, based on competence, performance, qualifications, and organizational needs.
  • The Bank does not condone any form of discrimination, whether direct or indirect, based, among others, on gender, religion, race, ethnicity, skin color, social status, particular circumstances, political views, or any other grounds that are contrary to applicable laws and regulations.

Ethics and Conduct in the Workplace

Bank Jakarta promotes mutual respect and consideration among employees, customers, and Bank Jakarta's stakeholders and is committed to preventing and not tolerating any form of conduct or action that is contrary to the principles of respect for Human Rights (HR), including but not limited to discrimination, bullying, harassment, and violence in any form in the workplace.

Bank Jakarta prohibits and does not tolerate any conduct that may lead to human rights violations and is committed to creating a safe and comfortable workplace that upholds equality and respects diversity. To uphold this commitment, all Bank Jakarta employees are required to demonstrate the following attitudes and behaviors:

Freedom from Discrimination

Every employee is required to treat others fairly and equally, without restrictions, exclusions, or differential treatment based on ethnicity, race, religion, gender, social status, physical condition, or other backgrounds that are contrary to applicable laws and regulations.

Examples:

  • Providing different treatment or opportunities to employees with equivalent competencies and performance solely due to personal relationships or particular preferences.
  • Providing different services to customers or stakeholders based on ethnicity, religion, race, social status, or other personal characteristics.

Freedom from Bullying

Every employee is required to prevent and refrain from engaging in acts of oppression, intimidation, humiliation, exclusion, or other forms of harassment that are intentionally and repeatedly carried out, whether physically, verbally, psychologically, or through digital/electronic media, which may cause fear, distress, a sense of threat, emotional harm, or other psychological impacts on an individual.

Examples:

  • Repeatedly giving nicknames, making jokes, or making derogatory comments about a colleague.
  • Intimidating or humiliating an employee in front of colleagues, subordinates, or other parties.
  • Intentionally excluding an individual from communication or work-related activities without a reason related to work requirements.
  • Repeatedly exerting disproportionate pressure or making threats with the intention of causing fear.

Freedom from Harassment

Every employee is required to prevent and refrain from engaging in conduct that is unwelcome, insulting, degrading, intimidating, or that violates an individual's personal boundaries or privacy, whether verbal, through gestures, physical, or through digital/electronic media, which may cause a person to feel unsafe, uncomfortable, humiliated, or degraded.

Examples:

  • Making inappropriate comments, jokes, or remarks concerning a person's appearance, physical condition, or personal life that are degrading, insulting, or make others feel uncomfortable.
  • Engaging in unwanted approaches, communications, or actions repeatedly, even after the individual concerned has indicated discomfort or rejection.
  • Sending inappropriate messages, images, videos, or digital content to colleagues.

Freedom from Violence

Every employee is required to prevent and refrain from engaging in any form of violence, threats, coercion, assault, or other actions that may cause harm or adverse impacts on an individual's physical, psychological, social, and/or economic well-being.

Examples:

  • Engaging in physical acts such as hitting, pushing, kicking, or other physical actions that may cause injury to another person.
  • Engaging in actions that cause a person to experience serious psychological distress through threats, coercion, or intimidation.

All Bank Jakarta employees are required to uphold the Bank Jakarta Work Culture Values, Bank Jakarta Code of Ethics, and all internal Bank policies and provisions relating to employee values, ethics, and conduct in carrying out their duties and responsibilities, including:

  • Complying with and adhering to applicable laws, regulations, and provisions.
  • Avoiding unfair competition.
  • Not abusing authority for personal gain.
  • Maintaining the confidentiality of customers and the Bank.
  • Refraining from misconduct that may adversely affect the reputation of their profession.

All Bank Jakarta employees are required to maintain transparent relationships with customers, business partners, and all stakeholders in accordance with applicable provisions.

Examples:

  • Providing accurate, clear, and non-misleading information within the scope of their authority and in accordance with applicable provisions.
  • Not making promises or commitments beyond their authority or outside the Bank's applicable provisions.
  • Not using relationships with customers, business partners, or stakeholders for personal gain or for the benefit of certain parties.

Every employee is required to report any suspected or actual incidents of discrimination, bullying, harassment, violence, and/or other actions that are contrary to the principles of respect for Human Rights within the Bank through the reporting channels or communication media provided by the Bank.

Any act of discrimination, bullying, harassment, violence, and/or other actions that are contrary to the principles of respect for Human Rights constitutes a violation of the Bank's provisions and may be categorized as a serious violation depending on its nature, impact, and the applicable provisions of the Bank. Any violation will be followed up in accordance with the mechanisms and provisions applicable within the Bank.

The Bank guarantees that every report concerning an alleged violation will be handled objectively, professionally, and in accordance with applicable provisions, while maintaining the confidentiality of the information and providing the necessary protection to the reporting party and/or the parties involved in accordance with the Bank's provisions.
